From plant engineers to summer interns, KAAPA employees share what it’s like to build a career with a team that values employees, grit, collaboration, leadership, and excellence.
Working for KAAPA Ethanol has been great for me. I have high trust for our leadership team and know that they’ll support me in difficult situations.
Emma spent her internship embedded with KAAPA’s merchandising team, getting hands-on experience in trading, grain merchandising, and sales. But the role didn’t stop at one desk — she shadowed teams across the plant, learning how every piece of the operation connects.
My internship at KAAPA Ethanol as a merchandising intern gave me hands-on experience in trading, grain merchandising, and sales, while also allowing me to shadow and learn from every facet of the ethanol plant.
It was an invaluable opportunity to work in a fast-paced industry with a company that truly prioritizes leadership, excellence, and professional growth.
It's every boys dream to operate a locomotive. I started here with no knowledge of ethanol and have since learned the production process. I love my coworkers and I am very excited to see what my future holds with KAAPA. I love being a part of the KAAPA team.
KAAPA's reputation throughout the area is what drew me to join this team, and it's been a pleasure becoming a part of the Legacy. A strong commitment to meeting the needs of our customers and delivering value to our community allows us stay laser focused on pursuing excellent results and personally has provided me great opportunities to grow within the organization.
What I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to reward farmers with competitive prices and efficient service after a season of hard work. I also enjoy coming to work each day and collaborating with a great team. No two days are the same, which keeps the job interesting and provides constant opportunities to learn. Additionally, I appreciate how KAAPA supports its employees, customers, and local communities, helping agriculture continue to thrive.
When I started with KAAPA in August of 2020, it was a risk that involved not only leaving a good job but also moving with my family. My wife and I had always dreamed of moving closer to family and through KAAPA, we were able to make that dream a reality. It took some time to get used to the job and get to know my fellow employees, but I have established so many great relationships in my time here thus far. KAAPA of course has such a strong connection to our area farmers, something that I value as well. I have enjoyed the opportunities that have come up with different people at our other plants and the challenges that may come. While no company is perfect, KAAPA has been my home these last six years and hope for many more. I don’t know where I will be in ten years or what exactly I will be doing but know that through KAAPA I will have the opportunity to keep growing.
